Anyone with knowledge about salmon and steelhead trout distribution and habitats, or interest in suggesting actions to support their habitats in the Thompson-Shuswap is encouraged to submit information using these tools. Information we gather using these tools will be shared back to partners and made publicly available on the TSSC Data Explorer.

Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge and contributing to the development of The Ecosystem Action Plan. This information will help improve the current state of knowledge regarding where anadromous salmon and steelhead trout have been observed in the watershed, as well as locations of important salmon and steelhead habitats. With your help, we can ensure The Ecosystem Action Plan contains practical and realistic actions and recommendations that support salmon and steelhead habitat in the Thompson-Shuswap.

Salmon Habitat Mapper

The TSSC is compiling location information for anadromous salmon and steelhead observations in the Thompson-Shuswap, as well as locations of important salmon and steelhead habitats.

The TSSC has gathered information from several publicly available sources as well as the TSSC parties. In this activity the TSSC is looking to identify:

• Any areas of known salmon and steelhead occurrence that are not included on the current map – what are we missing?
• Locations of important salmon or steelhead habitats such as known spawning and rearing locations, groundwater upwellings, large woody debris structures, pool habitats and known occurrences of intact riparian areas.
• Updates for areas that are included on the current map but where salmon no longer occur or where there appears to be an error with the data – does any of this data appear to be inaccurate?

Thompson-Shuswap Recommended Actions Survey

The TSSC is seeking input to identify potential actions for The Ecosystem Action Plan.

The TSSC has reviewed many watershed reports and assessments shared by partners to identify threats and stressors to salmon/steelhead and their habitats in the Thompson-Shuswap, as well as recommended actions to address them. In this activity, the TSSC is seeking direct input on actions that will address habitat stressors in the Thompson-Shuswap.

The types of information that the TSSC is looking for include:

• Specific locations to implement broad actions previously identified in watershed reports and assessments.
• New actions that have not yet been identified.
• Locations of additional problems that affect salmon and steelhead habitat.
• Innovative and ecosystem-wide solutions to address these problems.
