The TSSC Data Explorer

The TSSC has worked with the Pacific Salmon Foundation’s ‘Salmon Watersheds Program’ to create an interactive online data explorer and mapping application that allows TSSC and the wider Thompson-Shuswap salmon community to efficiently access data on salmon populations and their habitats.

Research and Resources

Information stored and displayed in the TSSC Data Explorer can be used to help identify near-term TSSC priorities for salmon conservation and restoration actions at local stream scales, while also providing a foundation for longer-term watershed-scale assessments and planning efforts. What does the tool do?

Synthesizes available data on the status and distribution of salmon Conservation Units located within the Thompson-Shuswap.

Quantifies the extent and intensity of landscape pressures (e.g., mining development, road density, logging, etc.) across the Thompson-Shuswap in order to assess where human development may be having the greatest relative impacts on freshwater salmon habitats.

Integrates compiled salmon and habitat information into a publicly available, interactive, and easy to use mapping tool.

Makes all non-confidential data displayed in the mapping tool available to the public through the Pacific Salmon Foundation’s Salmon Data Library
